Innovation for Proclamation
Sep 06, 2024NCCL's Week of Prayer for Catechists - Reflection 4
In a 2017 address to catechists, Pope Francis said: “…catechists are creative; they seek to use different means and forms to proclaim Christ. …This endeavor to make Jesus known as the highest form of beauty brings us to encounter new signs and ways to transmit the faith.”
This has been a constant reminder from Pope Francis as well as throughout the church. The Directory for Catechesis wisely nudges us to the varied methodologies of learning which invite our learners to active participation and enthusiastic engagement. “Catechesis does not have a single method,” (#195) but encourages us to explore and utilize the many approaches to learning that have been researched and known to be effective today.
In this new year, what creative ways might you use to help your learners understand more deeply and live more compassionately our Gospel life of discipleship?
